Making Time and Space for the Big Doable Stuff
I genuinely think that in the majority of cases a lot of managers just don't know how to lead. They don't know where to begin when it comes to engaging those around them and having almost given up, they themselves have succumbed to the comfort and safety of Planet Complacency.
As a result they tend to end up not even managing but merely coping. Some turn into serial meeting goers and combat typists, flapping around like moths at fairgrounds, firing out emails, playing politics and lurching from one quarter to the next, generating whole forest loads of mind boggling reports in a smoke screen attempt to hide their ineffectiveness and justify their existence.
