Chapter 2. IP Architecture Overview

In order to understand the various applications of policies and how they help in network management, you need to be familiar with the basics of various protocols and applications related to IP. This chapter provides a brief overview of aspects of IP and related technologies of QoS and security that are required as a background for the rest of the book.

It's quite likely that you are familiar with many of these basic techniques. If that is true, I recommend that you simply skip the relevant sections. However, if one of the topics is new to you, this chapter will provide a quick overview.
