The goals of IP security include preventing information contained in traffic flows from falling into the wrong hands, as well as addressing such security threats as unauthorized use of network resources, denial-of-service attacks, and unauthorized or unintended modification of information content, including information that controls the operation of the network. These goals are satisfied in many ways. At the network level, you need to introduce various safeguards to make sure that only traffic that is not permitted to be on the network is blocked.
