Abstract:
This chapter discusses the use of carbon nanotube (CNT)-based nanocomposites for biomedical applications, particularly in the areas of joint replacement surgery and dentistry. The chapter initially reviews the current issues associated with orthopaedic implants and the application of CNTs to counterbalance some of the issues described. The chapter then discusses the use of CNTs in dentistry, including dental restorative materials, periodontal dentistry and denture base resins.
