Abstract:
This chapter discusses composite polymer electrolytes for lithium batteries and proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) applications, and describes how nanofillers affect polymer matrix morphologies, dynamic and electrochemical electrolyte performances. The chapter first reviews composite polymer electrolytes for lithium batteries based on organic and inorganic charges, and then discusses composite polymer electrolytes for PEMFC that use ionomer/polymer and hydroscopic inorganic particles to keep the membranes hydrated at higher operating temperatures, and finally self-humidifying membranes, ...
