Pop-Up Spaces

Summary

Three years ago, when the number of pop-ups first began to dramatically increase in the United States, they typically opened in vacant storefronts or empty restaurants located on city streets or in suburban strip malls throughout the country. Nowadays, while pop-ups at these venues are still popular, we are seeing them also open in public spaces (gardens, churches, even parking lots), within existing businesses (stores-within-stores, restaurants-within-restaurants), personal residences (garages, driveways, kitchens), on mountain tops, underwater, in cemeteries, on Ferris wheels, or even being hoisted by construction equipment (as per the aforementioned Dinner in the Sky, a pop-up dining concept where patrons are suspended in the air via a crane). Clearly, as people are experimenting with creative, one-of-a-kind pop-up concepts, they are looking for equivalent spaces that provide a whimsical, incredible setting for their events.

Benefits/Costs

Individual landlords, property management companies, real estate agents, and even shopping malls are embracing the concept of pop-ups for a variety of reasons.
