Chapter 14. Migrating from Sendmail to Postfix

The preceding chapters described the process of installing and configuring a Postfix mail server. Unfortunately, many mail server sites have been running other mail server software prior to the installation of the Postfix software. This creates a problem for the mail administrator: how to migrate an existing mail server to the Postfix environment. This process requires more planning and coordination than just creating a new mail server. Care must be taken that no messages are lost from the old mail server package, and that the mail server switch is transparent to the mail server users (except, of course, for the better performance that Postfix offers).
