Chapter 22. Performance Tuning Postfix
If you only have a hundred or so users on your e-mail system, you may never have to worry about how quickly Postfix processes incoming and outgoing mail messages. Using the default Postfix installation, most e-mail servers should be able to adequately handle normal traffic load.
However, many mail administrators are responsible for thousands of e-mail users on their servers. For them, every microsecond of performance is crucial. The default settings for Postfix may not be the most efficient way for their mail server to operate.
