This second edition is updated for and focused on the PostGIS 2.0 and 2.1 series and PostgreSQL 9.1–9.3 with highlights of PostgreSQL 9.4 and the upcoming PostGIS 2.2. This book isn’t a substitute for either the official PostGIS or PostgreSQL documentation. The official PostGIS documentation does a good job of introducing you to the myriad of functions available in PostGIS and provides examples on how to use each.
