Meet the Commander

If Commanders had a common mantra, it would be “Results now!” Whether they are taking a hill in a military siege or taking control in a boardroom, the power of a Commander stems from their ability to exude a decisive confidence and a drive to win that foster a sense of urgency in others. When participants in our workshops are asked to identify people they think exemplify the four power styles, Jack Welch is one of the most frequently cited when it comes to the power style of the Commander. Other people who are regularly mentioned include Norman Schwarzkopf, Margaret Thatcher, and George Washington.
