Application of FACTS Controller

Abstract

This chapter is also one of the special thrust areas of this book. The application of variable impedance-type FACTS devices (SVC and TCSC) and a VSC-based FACTS device (STATCOM) has been shown in case of an SMIB and in a multimachine power system. The performances of these FACTS controllers are compared to the performance of the PSS in mitigating small-signal oscillations. The investigations of small-signal stability problem have been extended here for a regional longitudinal multimachine power system (24-generator, 203-bus system).
