Web.PB and DPB Applications

When Sybase announced that Distributed PowerBuilder (DPB) support would be discontinued after the PowerBuilder 7 release, customers who had used the technology were faced with a tough decision:

  • Continue to use their systems as is and remain on the PowerBuilder 7 platform

  • Migrate the application to EAServer and PowerBuilder to handle current and future growth

  • Discontinue the application altogether or rewrite it in another technology

None of these choices were very easy to swallow. The fact is, we're not writing this book to debate the decision, but rather to address the question of what to do with the applications you already have.
