Conclusion

This chapter focused on the analysis and design effort required for application development. We highlighted areas in which analysis and design differ from normal client/server applications for today's hybrid platform systems that require much more done in less time.

Many developers still see analysis and design as cost-increasers, but the opposite is far more realistic. Well-defined and contained design efforts lead to shorter and more strategic development plans that result in more stable and more accurate systems. The ROI is measurable not only in terms of money saved; the accurate delivery of business functionality that the customer actually asked for is certainly worth the effort.
