If you were to research the origins of Web 2.0, you would find that Tim O’Reilly coined the term. O’Reilly was a huge supporter of free software and the open source movement. His company, O’Reilly Media, is known as a technology transfer company focused on “changing the world by spreading the knowledge of innovators” (in the words of Wikipedia). After the first O’Reilly Media Web 2.0 Conference in 2004, the term became widely recognized and communities developed online to enable collaboration, sharing, and creativity among users.
