BGP Graceful Restart
A large number of the larger-scale routers used in networks, such as the Cisco 12000 and Cisco 10000, separates the control plane from the data plane; in other words, the control plane is not involved in the processes required to switch packets from one connected segment to another. Figure 7.6 illustrates this concept.
