Next Hop Recursion Oscillation
Under some circumstances, all the routes (or a large number of routes) in the local BGP table will either switch from one next hop to another next hop or be installed in the routing table and then removed from the routing table; this is most likely next hop recursion oscillation, one of the most common problems we see and troubleshoot in BGP deployments. Since this problem is so common, we will describe two different ways in which next hop oscillation presents itself, and solutions for each of these problems, in the following sections.
