5.1 Introduction to Part V

The purpose of this part of the book is to tell the story of an exemplary creative and innovative case study. This case study is based on actual work undertaken by the author and a team of dedicated engineers and managers that started in 2003 and continued to 2016. Part V: Creative and Innovative Case Study.1 is generally organized along chronological order as depicted in Figure 5.1.

  • Chapter 5.1: Introduction to Part V. This chapter describes the contents and structure of Part V.
  • Chapter 5.2: A problem seeking a solution. This chapter describes the problem at hand (i.e. designing adaptable systems for future unknown requirements) and its evolution in the minds of its creators. In addition, this chapter describes the early attempt to fund an initiative aiming at resolving this problem.
