DATA MIGRATION IMPLEMENTATION FORMS

There are a number of types of data migration:

  • Big Bang Implementation: This is the all or nothing approach where all the data is migrated ‘on the night‘ and the Legacy Data Stores are all switched off.

  • Parallel Running Implementation: The data is loaded onto the new system but the Legacy Data Stores continue to operate until the Data Store Owners are satisfied that the new system is a success.

  • Phased Delivery: This can mean either loading only the data the business needs to go live, then adding history and other reporting data, or partitioning the whole project by some meaningful business grouping.
