Since not everyone uses Azure for their cloud databases, this chapter will cover auditing options for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Relational Database Service (RDS) and Google Cloud.

AWS RDS SQL Server Audit

There are a few components required to make SQL Server Audit work on AWS RDS SQL Server instances:
  • S3 bucket – To store audit files.

  • Option group – To allow RDS SQL Server to use audit functionality. This also determines which S3 bucket and IAM role to use.
