Pulling It All Together: The UK Royal Mint’s Full Spectrum of Problem-Solving Approaches
Every year, since 1282, the Trial of the Pyx is held in London, where the trustworthiness of Great Britain’s currency is verified. Throughout the year before each trial, the Deputy Master of the Royal Mint is required to set aside a random sample of several thousand new coins to be tested. Formerly held in the Palace of Westminster, today it is held at Goldsmiths’ Hall, the headquarters of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, and presided over by the Queen’s Remembrancer, one of Britain’s most senior judges. The results are reported to the Treasury.
