13 Long Range Radio: LPWAN
Low-Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) is a group of wireless, low-power, wide area network technologies designed for long-range communications at a low bit rate. These networks can reach more than six miles, and their power consumption is so low that their batteries can last up to 20 years. In addition, the overall technology cost is relatively cheap. LPWANs can use licensed or unlicensed frequencies and include proprietary or open standard protocols.
