Installing a Joystick

A joystick is a handy pointing device, especially when playing arcade-style games or using flight simulators, such as the fly8 simulator (shown in Figure 10.1).

To use a joystick with Linux, your computer must support the joystick hardware, usually through a joystick port on the back of the main box. You also need to have software support available as a loadable kernel module. You can check to see if your particular model of joystick is supported by going to either of the following URLs:
