Translating or Converting Graphics
Using ImageMagick's convenient and capable convert command is only one way to translate graphics. Most Linux distributions include a host of programs in the Portable Bitmap (pbm) and Portable Anymap (pnm) series. Many (but not all) of these programs can be combined with other commands to work as conversion filters in piped commands.
Table 15.3 lists many different graphics file formats, along with pertinent conversion programs you'll find for Linux. Chances are good that if you're faced with the task of converting a graphics file to a readable format, you'll find a program for Linux that will help you!
