Installing SCO UnixWare 7 at Home
Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) now owns the rights to the UNIX source code. The company has modified AT&T SVR4 UNIX to produce SVR5, which has been released as UnixWare 7. SCO is working closely with IBM to add AIX features to this system. The company plans for this operating system to be one of the first that can run on the new Intel 64 bit processors.
SCO also created and maintains an earlier version of UNIX called OpenServer 5. This version of UNIX runs on large numbers of Pentium PCs in businesses today.
Both OpenServer 5 UNIX and UnixWare 7 are available from SCO’s Web site for home, educational, and noncommercial use. The license is free, although there is a charge for the CD-ROM media.
