When VMware first arrived on the scene in 1998, it had only one product: VMware, which enabled desktop computers to run more than one operating system at a time. At the time this was considered revolutionary. Sure, mainframes had been able to do this for decades, but now it was an option for organizations with a shoestring hardware budget.
