The Cheat
Introduction
My interview for my first major motion picture went something like this:
“Have you ever worked with the paint program Amazon 3D?”
“Um … no ….”
“Have you ever worked on an SGI station?”
“Um … no ….”
“Softimage?”
“No. … But I’m a very quick learner if you would give me a chance.”
And that was how I got my first industry job. Why did they hire me? Because I knew Photoshop and had made a portfolio that matched the look of the movie, and they were going to pay me—oh wait—I can’t say that. Anyway, I had one month to learn everything, not just learn, but be up to speed with the other artists.
