Splitting Clips
Sometimes you need to cut a clip in the timeline into two or more pieces. You may want to apply an effect to one part of a shot but not to another, for example. When you split a clip, each piece becomes an independent program clip or clip instance. When you split a linked clip, both the video and audio tracks are split.
To split a clip with the razor:
1. | In the toolbox of the Timeline window, select the razor tool (Figure 6.69).
