Chapter 4. Fine Tuning Using Trim Mode
If you have worked on linear tape-to-tape editing systems, you probably remember the frustrations of previewing the precise starting and ending frames (in and out points) repeatedly and then committing to an edit. If you wanted to lengthen or shorten a shot on your edited master tape, even by one frame, you had to re-edit all the shots that came after that revision. If you didn't have timecoded tapes and an Edit Decision List (EDL), you might as well have given up.
