Chapter 9. Adding Transitions

In editing, transition refers to the way one clip replaces another. Although an instantaneous cut is the most basic transition, the term transition usually refers to a more gradual change from one clip to another. Adobe Premiere Pro ships with numerous customizable video transitions, including an array of dissolves, wipes, and special effects. You can also transition between audio clips using two types of cross-fade.

You select the transition you want from the Effects panel, which lists not only video and audio transitions, but also video and audio filters (including transparency keys) in categorized folders.
