ORIENTING INVITES A DIFFERENT AND MORE RESOURCEFUL perspective and is conducive to presence. Holding maintains this presence, and extends it toward the client. We can establish and hold a relational field of awareness that includes the client.
This chapter derives from orienting and takes it a step further. It is through holding that we maintain our presence in the conversation and invite the client to experience presence as well.
