Materials
2.1 Introduction
In order to design prestressed concrete structures, it is necessary that the designer should have a proper understanding of the properties of constituent materials. The principal materials used in prestressed concrete are high tensile steel and high strength concrete. In addition to these materials, plain or deformed reinforcing bars are used as shear reinforcement, longitudinal reinforcement and anchorage zone reinforcement. For bonded post-tensioned members, grout in the form of cement-sand slurry is used to fill the duct.
