Chapter 15. Ten Things You Should Know about Visual Thinking
Most people didn't grow up with an interest in thinking visually. Visual thinking wasn't discussed in school unless you were studying to be a professional artist. The concept has really come into its own in the past few years because of two things. The first is technology. Tools are available that make it easier for people to express themselves visually. The second is advances in neuroscience. Scientists are finding ways to look at what happens when the human brain encounters information.
This may sound counterintuitive because visual thinking is first and foremost a process. You see something with your mind's eye and can draw a representation of it without requiring any special tools beyond a pencil. But there's much more happening under the surface. This chapter focuses on the importance of visual thinking in your everyday life.
