A number of years ago, I interned at a software company before graduating from college. Thrilled at this chance to learn on the job, I could not believe my good luck when, on my first day, the HR manager said, “Three teams want you to join them, and you can pick the one you like best. After you meet with each one, just let me know your choice.”
I eagerly walked into a small conference room to meet Team 1, but even before they began talking, I noticed that I somehow felt a little dull and sluggish, like I needed a nap. As the team discussed an agenda item, they sounded like they needed a nap too. What a lifeless group!
