Jerry Knight, the new Vice President of Innovation at Spiraling Technologies, has accepted his boss’s challenge to come up with a half dozen new ideas to boost the company’s market position. With ample funding for two new positions, Jerry hires two ideal candidates with MBAs from Harvard and Stanford and tells them to “start innovating.” The new recruits, Frank Silva and Lena Gold, settle into their plush new offices and set to work, gathering input on customer needs from the marketing department, consulting with the company’s engineers, debating the best ways to provide greater value, and drawing fancy diagrams on a huge whiteboard.
