This is a long chapter that takes a look at the complex subject of the development of databases. Some concepts are only briefly explained, while others are discussed in more detail. The intention is not to teach you how to develop a database – that would take a complete book many times the size of this one, and even then you would probably need help and guidance from an experienced practitioner before you could put the ideas into practice.
