It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
17. Quantitative Investing in the Markets Today
Now that you have a sense of the purpose and power of quantitative investing and have perhaps created and backtested some strategies yourself, this chapter briefly discusses the evolution of quantitative investing, and, more important, the competitive landscape for quantitative investors in today’s market. This chapter is not designed to discourage, but to inform. The more quantitative traders there are, the more it means that there truly is something behind the techniques outlined in this book. On the other hand, it also means there are more people out there pursuing similar techniques, and any edge you acquire from following the quant techniques in this book are diminishing.
