The .NET Framework , as of version 4.8, is now locked in stasis security patches aside. All future enhancements and improvements to .NET are being funneled into the .NET Corebased, cross-platform, version of .NET. If you’re a developer working on older ASP.NET or .NET Framework applications , you are currently tied to Windows and may therefore want to consider moving to .NET to take advantage of future enhancements.
