Oracle Multitenant was introduced in Oracle Database 12c. Now with 23c it is the only supported architecture. We have already discussed how to install Oracle Databases with this architecture and create pluggable databases (PDBs). A multitenant container database (CDB) is defined as a database capable of housing one or more pluggable databases (PDB). A container is a collection of metadata and data files that exist within a CDB.
