Child Windows

In many situations, you don't need a way to change the page—you just need to temporarily show some sort of content before allowing the user to return to the main application page. The obvious example is a confirmation dialog box, but Windows and web applications use pop-up windows to collect information, show basic program information, and provide access to configuration settings.

In Silverlight, you can create this sort of design using a handy content control called ChildWindow. Essentially, ChildWindow mimics the modal dialog boxes you've seen on the Windows platform.
