Elevated Trust

An elevated-trust application is a special type of out-of-browser application—one that has an impressive set of additional privileges. These privileges don't match the capabilities of a traditional desktop application, but they do allow a range of potentially dangerous actions, from activating third-party programs to directly accessing the file system. For this reason, elevated-trust applications make the most sense in controlled environments, such as a corporate network where users already know the application and trust the publisher.
