The past two chapters discussed which edition of SQL Server 2012 to install, identifying and selecting the hardware requirements, and figuring out the high-availability solution to implement, if any. You have finally reached the point where you can validate your pre-installation considerations and install or upgrade to SQL Server 2012. The first half of this chapter provides multiple methods of installing Microsoft SQL Server 2012 while the second half of this chapter focuses on updating to SQL Server 2012 from previous versions of SQL Server.
