CHAPTER 5ALM Assessments
Often in my work I need to perform an assessment of a given situation. I could be describing a system's present architecture and then coming up with a plan for improving it, or I could be assessing how a system scales. The more I've started working with people instead of technology, my focus when doing the assessments has been on a different level: suddenly I need to consider human factors and not only technological topics. Before VSTS entered my life, I conducted surveys of how a department functioned, for instance. I have done such assessments by interviewing people from the organizations and thereby getting a picture of the situation.
