Chapters 4 through 8 describe a complete risk management process, and Chapter 3 provides an overview of this process. As you work through the various phases of the process, however, you may find the tools in this chapter to be helpful. These tools only support your risk management process (often only in special cases); they are not a substitute for it.
We start with two tools that you can apply generally to the risk management process, and then describe three special-purpose tools useful for understanding specific risks that are unusually complex or significant:
