Sampling Distributions

4.1 Introduction

In statistics, we deal with the method of ­collection, classification and analysis of qua­ntitative data for drawing inferences and making decisions. Instead of examining the entire c­ollection called the population, which may be difficult or impossible, we may examine a small part of it called a sample. We deal with a particular kind of sample called random sample. We do this with the aim of drawing certain inferences about the population from results found in the sample, a process known as statistical inference.
