Chapter 3. Common Base Events
To resolve the issue of disparate data available for problem determination and
self-healing systems, there is a need to adopt a formal, disciplined, and standard
approach to the creation of problem data reported by IT components.
The development of a common message format, called Common Base Event,
addresses the issue of structuring log files in a standard way so that multiple log
files can be analyzed and correlated seamlessly.
This chapter describes the structure of Common Base Events, best practices
about how they can be created, and how they can be generated.
