Create a Detailed Sketch of the Table
Now that we have chosen
our variables, categories, and statistics, we can turn our rough sketch
of the table into a final sketch. We now know that the row headings
will be NO COLLEGE DEGREE and COLLEGE DEGREE. The column heading will
still be income, but we can be more specific now and name it MEAN
INCOME.
We can also add a title:
"Income by College Degree Status" and a footnote: "Data
for persons with graduate school education was excluded from analysis."
Another thing to include in this drawing is a format for the table
values. Because the result is a mean income, the figures should have
a dollar sign. Also, we can round the results to the nearest dollar.
