Multivariable Control

The performance of single-loop control systems is often limited by time-delays and right-half-plane zeros in the input-output dynamics. Similarly, multiple-loop control system performance can be limited by time-delays, right-half-plane transmission zeros and the “direction” of the setpoint changes. Since the manipulated inputs and measured outputs may have different units and operating ranges, it can be important to scale these variables to span similar ranges.
