A number of years ago, I completed a plant layout and managed the move to a new factory for a blood-collection needle manufacturer. Fascinating product – the needles blunt themselves as they enter the skin so that upon pulling the needle out, the health care provider doesn’t have to worry about needle pricks. But the product’s design is another story. The story here was that every time I went to the original factory, the large, automated needle assembly machine was broken down.
