Not having an operator to run the equipment is another big source of downtime. And this is not just when the operator is out of the facility. It also occurs during the regular work day. There are many reasons that operators might not be available to run their equipment, keeping it down. They might be on break or at lunch. They may be in meetings or scheduled for another piece of equipment. Or they may even be off making an in-process quality check.
