Chapter 7 Managing the Effort
I’m going to end this book by taking a step backward. We have gone through techniques for reducing process downtime. But how do you know where to focus first, set-up reduction or TPM or one of the other techniques? And how do you know whether you have actually reduced the downtime and are maintaining the gains?
The answer for both of these questions goes back to that famous quote by Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) in the film Jerry Maguire “Show me the data!” Okay, so he didn’t really say that. He shouted the very iconic “Show me the money!” My goal for manufacturers is that “Show me the data!” becomes just as iconic!
